I purchased these bars as a convenient and tasty way to manage my weight. For years, I have enjoyed these as a snack -- great taste, great price, highly convenient. These taste like a chocolate bar so it satisfies my craving for sweets and hunger at the same time! I used this mostly as a meal replacement. In my opinion, it's equivalent to the fullness of a small meal IF YOU DRINK WATER WITH IT -- I don't get hungry again until about 2 hours later. It's also highly convenient as a quick meal on the go.
However, recently I've put myself on the strict induction phase, hoping to shed a few extra pounds for an upcoming party. For days, I went about carefully counting my carbs but I couldn't figure out why I wasn't losing more than the couple of pounds of water weight. Getting ketone strips confirmed that I wasn't in ketosis. Finally, after carefully reexamining everything I ate, I realized that these bars are questionable.
Here are nutrition facts from the label:
Calories 240
Total Fat 12g
Saturated Fat 6g
Protein 18g
Total Carbohydrate 22g
Dietary Fiber 10g
Sugar 1g
Sugar Alcohol 0g
(You can also confirm this on the Atkins website [...])
The way net carb should be calculate is
Total Carbohydrate - Dietary Fiber = Net Carb
So 22 - 10 = 12 net carbs
If you do a little interest research, you'll find forums that talk about this more in detail.
Eliminating these from my diet has finally put my body into ketosis. As I stated in the beginning, these are great tasting convenient bars to manage your weight but they're not appropriate for induction, despite what the Atkins website says.

I just received my shipment of Atkin's Advantage Bar, Chocolate Peanut Butter Bar. The shipment arrived within 2-days, excluding weekend, and in perfect condition. Excellent shipping and it was FREE!
Being a retired food inspector the first thing I looked at aside from the packaging was the "Expiration or Best If Used By" date. The Aktin's use an "Enjoy By" date which is equivalent to "Best If Used By" date. The product I received has an "Enjoy By" date of Oct 22, 2011.
Considering the type of perishable product that this is I figure that my shipment rolled off the production line in the past month. Unlike some Amazon.com reviewers of food (perishable) products that complained of staleness or out-of-date or soon to expire product I am very impressed by the freshness, the quality and the condition.
I have already commented on the sample product that I received and the product I received in this shipment is the exact same thing from the package to the last delicious bite.
Some Amazon.com reviewers gave this product only 1 star for product consistency and taste. All I can say is based on the FREE sample I received the product I received is exactly the same and as expected. I ordered knowing what to expect and maybe those who did not have any previous experience with the product were expecting something else entirely.
Let me give you a trained food inspectors opinion of the product without using all the technical jargon of my former profession.
Visually the product appears to be a chocolate covered candy bar. However, unlike many candy bars the products interior is fairly dense in texture and fairly chewy, similar to refrigerated uncooked cookie dough. To me the appearance make me think of it being a cross between a Snickers Bar (my fav) and a Reese's Peanut Butter Cup (fav 2).
The flavor is again like my 2 favs, but less sweet probably due to there being only 1 gram of sugar. The flavor of the chocolate coating reminds me of a dark semi-sweet Dove chocolate. The interior has a smooth rich peanut butter flavor. I did not experience any off odors or off flavors and would say that it is for me a very delicious product. They kind of remind me of the very dense and calorie packed survival rations that we had when I was in the Army, but in this case the caloric load is equivalent to an average candy bar.
I had a hard time limiting myself to just one and wouldn't feel too guilty if I had eaten two of them since they are 240 calories each and two would have made it comparable in caloric load to a light meal. What really attracted me to this product, aside from the excellent taste, is that it provides 38% of the daily requirement of protein, as well as being very low in sugar and moderate on carbs.
I am a food inspector by training and not a dietitian, but I think a person could survive eating 3 or 4 of these bars a day for a short period of time, but you would only be getting 720-960 calories per day so you would be dropping weight fairly quickly. Please do not think that I am in any way recommending you try to loose weight by eating just 3 or 4 of these bars a day and nothing else. A dietitian might say that it would not be a very healthy and balanced diet.
Overall I like the product and would definitely recommend it to others. Sign up for the FREE sample I mentioned and try it out before you buy a couple boxes and found out you don't like it. That would be a little silly in my opinion. I gave it 5 stars in my Amazon.com review because it was exactly as advertised, quick shipping, perfect upon arrival and everything I was expecting from the sample.

I just love these! The hardest part for me is NOT eating them like candy. They are great with a cup of tea for breakfast or late night snack. Much better than a Reese's Cup! Too bad they are usually more expensive than the other flavors!
